The equipment allows for macro and micro morphological investigations and fractographic examinations of materials and components. The data collected enables the determination of a material's thermomechanical history, verification of the correctness of various manufacturing stages, and assessment of a component's suitability for use. It also allows for failure analysis by tracing back to the root causes. The laboratory's use by future designers helps refine their ability to consider the different production phases, loads, and environments to which components are subjected, thereby increasing product reliability.
