Transport systems engineering

Transport systems engineering is the main topic of the courses of transport that are taught in the bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and management engineering, and in the international master’s degree in safety engineering for transport, logistics, and production. In such courses, basic skills on transport systems are provided, and the components that characterize these systems (demand, supply, demand-supply interaction) are introduced together with the decision-making aspects that are taken into consideration in the planning of transport systems. Methods for the design of transport systems and methods for the evaluation and comparison of transport systems projects are also provided. As part of the courses of transport, skills are also provided in the use of specific software (PTV Visum, PTV Vissim, Extendsim) to model and analyse whole transport systems or specific parts of them, as well as logistic systems.
