Mechanics of Machines, Machine Design and Mechanical Measurements (MEC)

The section brings together researchers with expertise in mechanical system dynamics, advanced engineering, measurement techniques, and product design. Research activities encompass multiscale modeling, system control, rotor dynamics, vibration attenuation, robotics, innovative and bio-inspired materials, biomechanics, sustainable engineering, monitoring, and mechatronics. Drawing on an interdisciplinary approach, the Section integrates theory, simulation, and experimentation, promoting innovation in strategic sectors such as automation, healthcare, industry, and the marine environment. Collaborations with companies and research centers, along with cutting-edge laboratories and national and international projects, ensure the scientific and technological impact of its activities.

Research Laboratories

Strategic Collaborations (within the University or external), both academic, industrial, and institutional

The Section actively collaborates with numerous academic institutions, both nationally and internationally, as demonstrated by numerous research projects funded through competitive calls.
Collaborations with companies involve national, international, and local entities. Close collaboration with industry is also demonstrated by the creation of joint laboratories aimed at stimulating and accelerating technology transfer, fostering a constant synergy between industry needs and scientific research.
The Section's numerous collaborations include, for example, Ansaldo Energia, Hitachi STS, Cetena, Hypertac Smiths Connectors, CRF, Stellantis, Promat, Lamborghini, Dema, Sepor, Fincantieri, ASG Superconductors, and EdgeLab.
