Management

The Management theme focuses on the study of companies, financial institutions, and public administrations, considered as complex systems from an innovation, knowledge management, strategic, or organizational perspective. Particular emphasis is placed on the study of the complex interactions between strategy, management, and technology, and on the analysis of business processes, both internal and external to companies, institutions, and administrations. The focus is on understanding the change management processes required to introduce strategic, organizational, social, or technological innovations, with the aim of developing both innovative theoretical models and practical tools and methodologies to be applied and tested in real-world cases. Research topics are explored across various sectors and regions, including comparing best practices and models developed in different countries. Research in this area draws on qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including case studies, action research, surveys, modeling, and simulation. In particular, agent-based modeling allows for the creation of computational laboratories in which to conduct what-if analyses and computational experiments for the design and validation of innovation strategies.
