Transport Systems Engineering

In the lab, research and teaching activities are carried out in the areas of transport systems engineering and safety engineering applied to transport and logistic systems. The main research topics are relevant to the modelling and control of urban traffic networks, the planning of maintenance activities in railway infrastructures, the planning of intermodal mobility services. In addition, innovative topics such as the control of autonomous vehicles in the road sector and virtual coupling in the railway sector are currently dealt with. The lab is equipped with simulation software for transport systems (PTV Visum, PTV Vissim, Extendsim) and software for computing and optimization (Matlab, IBM Cplex).
