Transport Systems Engineering

The Transportation Laboratory conducts research in the field of transportation and logistics systems engineering. The main topics covered include the planning, modeling, and optimization of innovative and sustainable systems for shared mobility for people (Car-Sharing and Ride-Sharing) and freight (Crowd-Shipping), the planning of maintenance activities for road and rail infrastructure, and the study of innovative topics such as the Physical Internet for freight transport and Virtual Coupling in the railway sector.
The laboratory is equipped with simulation software for transportation and logistics systems (PTV Visum, PTV Vissim, Extendsim) and calculation and optimization tools (IBM Cplex).
