Plant Technologies and Simulation - o.u. Metrology and Machine Tools

The laboratory serves as a center of excellence for the integration of advanced metrology technologies and traditional mechanical processing, aimed at research, development, and prototyping in the field of industrial manufacturing. Thanks to state-of-the-art equipment, it is possible to precisely capture surface geometries using laser scanners and to characterize complex microgeometries, thus ensuring rigorous and detailed quality control for high-precision mechanical components.

Prototyping activities are supported by additive manufacturing, with particular focus on the use of reinforced polymeric materials, enabling the creation of functional and high-performance prototypes. Additionally, the laboratory is equipped for the rapid production of silicone molds, facilitating the creation of pre-series and rapid tooling processes essential for fast testing and validation.

The machine tool department offers a wide range of operations, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding, which are seamlessly integrated with the adopted digital technologies, creating a versatile and comprehensive operational environment. This synergy between traditional and innovative methodologies allows for effective responses to the challenges of modern manufacturing, promoting technological innovation and contributing to the development of advanced technical skills essential for the industrial sector.
