Node Summary: Support, Simulation, Decision Support
The Cognitive Industrial Intelligence, Simulation & Homeland Security node of the FoFLiguria5.0 infrastructure offers micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises a structured set of high-value-added services, designed to:
• Assess readiness for adopting generative and predictive AI solutions.
• Design and simulate evolutionary scenarios for supply chains, plants, and logistics flows.
• Integrate cognitive digital twins and AI agents into real-world business processes.
• Support decision-making in times of risk, crisis, or transition.
• Comply with ethical, regulatory, and dual-use requirements under the AI Act.
• Train human capital on emerging technologies and adaptive capabilities.

Companies gain access to scalable models, modular packages, and design support for calls for tenders, vouchers, and strategic roadmaps. The technologies used are derived from cognitively intensive projects developed within the DIME and the Ligurian Innovation Network.

Services Offered

  • AI Assessment and Cognitive Mapping

Assessment of corporate readiness for the adoption of AI solutions, including analysis of human-machine interactions, identification of decision-making bottlenecks, and mapping of areas with transformative potential.

  • Risk Assessment Readiness

Customized analysis of company hazards (substances, machinery, methodologies), including risk modeling, mapping of critical points, and definition of practical mitigation and response strategies, including dual-use strategies.

  • AI Agent Design and Cognitive Digital Twins

Development of customized generative AI agents based on GPT/LLM for risk analysis, operational monitoring, and procedural support. Integration of digital and cognitive twins for predictive scenarios for supply chains, maintenance, heat flows, and safety.

  • Federated Simulations and Predictive Environments

Design and testing of adaptive cognitive models, federated virtual environments (HLA), and agent-based tools to simulate emergency scenarios (e.g., fire, blackout, cyber attack), interfacing with regulations and competent authorities.

  • Decision support for highly uncertain scenarios

Integration of simulation environments with decision-making dashboards for managers, health and safety officers, designers, and plant managers. Support in choosing between alternative procedural options in regulated, complex, or high-pressure environments.

  • Ethics Audit and Regulatory Compliance

Analysis of the ethical, operational, and reputational implications of the measures adopted, including a cognitive audit of the AI technologies employed, simulation of the impact of non-compliant decisions, and support for compliance with mandatory regulations (AI Act, fire prevention, dual-use, Legislative Decree 81/08, UNI/CEI standards).

  • Digital Roadmap Design

Strategic support for MSMEs in developing development plans consistent with their capabilities, applicable regulations, and funding opportunities. Integration with regional calls for proposals and AI/Industry 5.0 roadmaps.

  • Cognitive AI Training and Acculturation

Training programs designed to improve the culture of safety, adaptability, and artificial intelligence within the company. Focus on responsible behavior, accident prevention, and the effective and informed adoption of cognitive tools.

  • Support for calls for tenders and complex projects

Support in developing competitive project proposals for the adoption of AI, simulation, and intelligent systems. Strategic alignment with European, national, and regional calls for tenders (e.g., Start4.0, DIH Liguria, etc.).
